Table of 4 with Example and FAQs
Table of 4
To obtain the 4 times table we start with 4 = 4 × 1.
Then we keep on adding 4 to the previous result each time as follows:
4 + 4 = 8 = 4 × 2
8 + 4 = 12 = 4 × 3
12 + 4 = 16 = 4 × 4
16 + 4 = 20 = 4 × 5
20 + 4 = 24 = 4 × 6
24 + 4 = 28 = 4 × 7
28 + 4 = 32 = 4 × 8
32 + 4 = 36 = 4 × 9
36 + 4 = 40 = 4 × 10, and so on.
Memorizing tables of various numbers gives an added advantage in dealing with problems related to multiplications.
Tips and Tricks
The table follows a pattern where the digit at the unit’s place follows a sequence 4, 8, 2, 6, 0 and then it repeats in the same order.
Examples
Example 1: Ravi has to attend classes every {\text{4}}^{\text{th}} day, his classes are starting from the {\text{4}}^{\text{th}} of November. With the help of the 4’s table, determine for how many days will he attend the classes in the month of November.
Solution:
It is given that the classes start from {\text{4}}^{\text{th}} November.
There are 30 days in the month. Hence, he will attend classes till {\text{28}}^{\text{th}} November for the first month.
Using 4’s table 4 × 7 = 28.
Hence, Ravi will attend a total of 7 classes in the month of November.
Example 2: Komal wants to distribute toffees to 12 of her classmates, she wants to give 4 toffees to each person. How many toffees should she buy?
Solution:
It has been given that she wants to give 4 toffees each to 12 of her classmates.
∴ Komal needs to buy 4 × 12 = 48 toffees.

36 + 4 = 40 = 4 × 10, and so on.
Q4.Can 4 have odd multiples?
Ans: As 4 is an even number, hence its multiples are even. The values on the 4 tables are all even, hence there are no odd multiples of 4.
